Development Description
Awarded in the retrofit category at the 2014 Master Imobiliário, the project revitalized one of the most traditional buildings in downtown Rio de Janeiro.
Built to house the National Academy of Medicine in the 1950s, the current Álvaro Cumplido de Sant'Anna Building combines tradition and respect for the environment, with simple and intelligent solutions that avoid waste and increase the sustainable capacity of the building. The project, originally architecturally designed in the shape of a cross in accordance with the Agache Plan, underwent structural engineering interventions to allow for greater overload and receive three new elevators, a floating staircase and the creation of a refrigerated atrium. Next door, a new building was built following the same principles and with a façade integrated into the retrofit. Corporate slabs from 483m² to 1,299m². Delivered in 2014.
