Development Description
Mentioned by Archdaily International in an article on good examples of adaptive reuse, this commercial development made use of technology in the treatment of architectural elements to create a basement and preserve historic facades.
The project's conception materialized in the retrofitting of adjoining townhouses in an architectural style typical of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, in a central and noble area of Rio. In contrast to the original two floors, four floors were built, optimizing the area in harmony with the preserved facade. It is on the upper floor that the historic fenestras and balconies are accessed, guaranteeing their use in the face of the building's conversion. The design of a skylight not only recalls the style of the old houses, but also interacts with the mezzanine and facade openings, favoring the circulation of natural light. The stores consist of a basement, first floor and mezzanine. Stores range from 310m² to 614m² and rooms from 54m² to 151m², making it possible to add up to 677m².
